Bio

Ryan Gilbert joined the Rensselaer faculty in 2010. At his previous appointment at Michigan Technical University, he served as an assistant professor of biomedical engineering and was inducted into the Academy of Teaching Excellence. In 2012, Dr. Gilbert received the Faculty Early Career Development Award (CAREER) from the National Science Foundation. Dr. Gilbert serves as an Editor-in-Chief of the journal Cells, Tissues, and Organs, and chaired a Department of Veterans Affairs Panel, Rehabilitation and Research and Development-Regenerative Medicine. Currently, Dr. Gilbert's laboratory is focused on developing biomaterials for central nervous system applications.
